Poem: When we choose to Forgive
a poem by Fida Hussain
Forgiveness is a quiet thing, like petals opening to morning light, like rain that softens parched earth. It asks for nothing, yet gives everything. A letting go, like breath released, a seed splitting to reach the sun, its roots grasping the unseen depths. We carry so much for so long, grudges that settle deep within, but when we choose to forgive, we free ourselves from that weight, like a wound finally closing its scar, like a bird leaving the cage behind, a river running clear again. In the stillness, peace enters, healing flows like morning light. Life is more than the bitterness we hold, it is a new day, a chance to start again, to rise, breathless, toward the surface, where the sun waits with open arms. Let’s write a story of renewal, where forgiveness is the ink, where love and peace are the words, and we, the ones who choose to flow with grace, like rivers to the sea, to flow unbound, like whispers through trees. - Fida Hussain
